Greetings, and thank you for viewing the very first post of what I hope will be a very successful blog.

The idea is simple; the blog is intended to be the documentation of my journey into the world of spreadtrading, recording the highs and lows of someone who has until recently not even known what a spreadtrade is.

A little background.

Myself and the editor of The Economy News, Will Peters, are ex-colleagues who once worked together at a boutique online publisher in London.

I am now a freelance financial journalist by trade and have moved back to South Africa. The Economy News, ever on the look out for expansion thought it would be great if I could contribute to their latest venture here in South Africa.

The Economy News is increasingly focusing on delivering news to the private investor, the website provides up to date news and analysis of the FTSE, FTSE companies, forex markets, gold and silver markets and commodity markets, while still providing core macro economic news. All useful stuff to the spreadtrader.

The idea of having someone blogging about spreadtrading was a natural progression based on this.

I intend to present the best spreadtrading advice, talk to spreadtrading proffessionals and work on as many spreadtrading platforms as possible.

I am now essentially a guinea pig - the money I intend to bet on the markets is my own - something Will insisted on. Apparently it will provide the 'raw' edge to this journey.

Fine by me - as long as I win.

Risk Involved

Spread Betting and CFD trading carry a high level of risk to your capital and you can lose more than your initial deposit. These trading products may not be suitable for all investors so seek independent advice if necessary.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
